The Fossar de la Pedrera is located in a deep depression in the mountain of Montjuic, site of and old stone quarry and next to the old cementery of Barcelona. This quarry, wich over the years had become a common grave, was selected as the burrial place for all the victims of imprisonment and persecution. The site remained completely neglected  until 1985 when the city council decided to restructure and dignify the complex.
